Coach Bruce

My name is Bruce Mitchell, or Coach Bruce to most people, and I am the owner of Bull City Swimming. I began my swim career at 6 years old when I joined the Durham Summer Swim League, Parkwood Piranhas. I loved summer league and didn’t want the fun to end, so I started swimming year round. At 14, I first volunteered as a junior coach and discovered the only thing more fun than being a swimmer was helping kids learn to love swimming. Since then, there has not been a year of my life that I haven’t coached in some capacity! At 17, I was hired as an instructor and coach for the first time, and it’s what I’ve done ever since. I consider myself incredibly lucky to be in a position to help kids learn how to develop new skills, overcome fear, and tackle hard problems. But more than anything, at the core of my love for teaching is a desire for every kid to feel respected and celebrated for who they are. When I’m not at the pool, I’m usually hanging out in our “office” (the garage) or a coffee shop with my wife and business partner, Mikaila; or cooking and playing music with kids.

Coach Daisha

Hi there! My name is Coach Daisha and I look forward to teaching your young ones how to swim and/or gather more skills safely in the water! I am the oldest out of 5 siblings so I grew up around children my whole life. I really got into the safety of swimming and how to make kids comfortable in the water about 4 years ago, and it has been my passion since! I know infant survival training and have been working with kids between the ages of 6 months to 12 years of age. I love the relationships I build not only with them, but with the parents too! My favorite color is blue and my favorite things to do is hike, travel, and of course be in the water! I look forward to working with all of you guys in the summer!
